    it was written in part directed to kurt cobain in '93, as r.e.m. was very good friends with him and michael stipe knew he was struggling with suicidal thoughts. dunno why it fits with the situation in haiti though.

    well yeah but i think they're aware of that lol, i actually find it almost insulting if you think about it, easy for us to say that everyone hurts sometimes. i think they should have chose a bit more of an optimistic song, but thats just me i guess.

    I guess teh bottom line is that money will be raised for the cause through this. That is all that matters at the end of it, despite the poor choice of song.
