It's a case of can't teach an old dog though - although he looks older than he is

Edit: I watched a documentary a while ago which included a part about this Border Collie (in Germany I think) which is supposed to be the most intelligent dog in the world. It has been taught to retrieve any toy the owner names from a whole pile of toys (like 100 toys or something) and it can recognise the toy if you show it a miniature version of it or even just an image of it and it goes into the next room of the house and fetches the correct toy! I was looking for any YouTube clips and couldn't find him but I found a video of another one which has been taught similarly (apparently just on a smaller scale); http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pf0Vr0MSdHg
ohh right, my dog can recognise Ball, Toy (which is a small black tire thing) blue (which is a chewie thing) and pillow (cushion) loll
he picked up the Sit and shake a paw thing within the first 2 weeks we had him lol i also have this clicker thing and when hes done a trick correctly i click it and give him the treat

I didn't mean to ignore your advice btw sorry; it's not so easy because he wouldn't jump up on it in the first place even for treats lol, and he's slightly bigger and I would say fairly heavier than a collie so it's not like you can just pull him up to show him either. He already sat when we got him I think and it didn't take long for my brother to teach him lie down and shake paw, but that's about it
