You may not like people hearing this sort of stuff, but we can have it and most likely will have it implemented on us using a directive which comes from the Commission. As there is an election looming, people want to hear from our elected government 'no, we will not endanger British lives with this terrible disease' and that is part of a democratic system. If it were propaganda as you describe it, it would be made up - this is not made up.

Firstly our parliament is considered to be inferior to the European Union and its legislation, regulations and directives and thats under European Law. Secondly we have no choice anyway if they slide this through via regulations (which is what happens with most legislation nowadays). It is now estimated that the percentage of EU law coming through as regulation (which is non-optional) stands at 94% (2009 figure). Thirdly this government has signed away the rest of our remaining sovereignty with the Lisbon Treaty which is self-amending meaning it can be changed at any time which is what is happening now as Herman Van whatsisface has called for economic government.

In short; we will see this imposed.

The President of the EU (unelected) and the Foreign Minister of the EU (also unelected & who has never been elected to public office in her life anyway) are both paid more than the President of the United States who is the most powerful man on Earth so that tells you all you need to know about the European Union.
