Which Android OS is it that allows multi-touch? Is that 2.2? I know the phone I'm looking at comes with 1.6, with the possibility of a future update to 2.2 (or .1) soon after.

I believe that the older versions could support multi touch but it was disabled at the kernel level in order not to infringe apple's multi touch patent. However, you could root it and enable multi touch if you wanted.

Isn't Hero 2.1 getting pushed out starting from the 1st April? (For the unlocked versions at least)

Apparently, Apple have no control (or should have no control) over any multi-touch systems over in the UK and Europe, as the patent is US based and this particular type of patent is not allowed in the UK patent system - as it's too vague and anti-competitive. But no doubt Apple and their current outlook on life is disrupting it here :/

Seriously? I didn't know it was available on Android 2.0. I've only been glancing over the information, but from what I understood multi-touch would be enabled in the next Android (2.1 judging by the replies ). 1.6 is decent enough to start off anyway, hopefully Sony will update to the newer one in time

Some time in April, it was delayed from March.

I strongly recommend people root, for one thing it means you dont have to wait for updates

I strongly agree. I'm already been running 2.0 on my G1
