    Dunno if I am too late - but try playing some unknown bands you think sound good.

    Promote them a bit, might get some interest in you too.

    I personally think 'Daughtry - What About Now' couldn't go a miss.

    I would play old and new as others have said. If you're tuned into the previous show, try not to play any song that was played in the show before.

    If you play too much chart/overplayed music then it gets awfully boring! |-) Good luck with your first show.

    Do NOT whatever you do make your show full of chart songs. That's what I don't promote myself, I have to cringe at the amount of times I did hear DJs just having a show full of overplayed chart music.

    Mixing is indeed the right road to follow, play a chart song, then play something you like. Look at the request line, there sometimes are quite a few requests etc. Old and new, different genres etc. and you'll be good .
