i have looked at the evidence and i feel that the UK does now benefit much more in the EU than out. The cost is large but i think as the E European economies grow our net contribution will probably fall.

there have been problems with the eu's rapid expansion and some accountability issues could be reformed but i think all in all i think it's democratic enough and we underestimate the value it has when we see the mail/telegraph/express stories.

    &that's my 2 euro cents.
    goodbye.

Depends how you see it. Governments naturally cost alot of money, and having two seems like a waste and obviously having one Eurocratic country wouldn't work as we hate everyone and each country hates everyone else. It's quite a waste of money, when each country did quite well on their own.

that's the thing. it's hard to tell where this country would have been in terms of trade if we had not joined EEC because beforehand much of our trade was done with the commonwealth where now the largest trading partner is the rest of europe. I think there are simply too many factors to consider if the EU has affected us negatively or positively overall.
    goodbye.

This country (if it had not joined the EC) wouldnt be locked along with the rest of Europe in a straight-jacket which imposes tariffs on countries such as the Unites States and dumps huge amounts of food at worthless prices on African markets leading to mass starvation on the African countinent. The European project was never about trade, it was about federalism and doing things without telling people - the exact reason the EU detests referendums and elections. The very point is only proved by yourself of whom it took attempt after attempt on my part to admit you are a European federalist.

    The currency is a joke.
    Its rules are a joke.
    Its methods are a joke.

    - and it will be consigned on the dustpile of history like most other failed attempts at the unification of Europe.

You also mentioned democracy in the European Union, what kind of a democracy makes people vote twice until they give the correct answer? [in the case of the Republic of Ireland]. I can only imagine the reactions of our politicians had Zimbabwe/Burma/North Korea/China done the same and acted in the same arrogant way as the European elite have done.

Many agree that it should of stayed as a trade relationship. Developing it further to include governing the continent as a step too far and a breach of each countries individual controls and sovereignity. The currency is obviously an attempt at showing the world how capitalism goes wrong.
