Finding employment for remote-location (from home) work isn't as hard as you would initially think; you just need to look in the right places. It does also highly depend on what you're interested in doing - Do you like designing? Graphics? Sales? Customer Support?
With the current economic climate many smaller companies have been forced to close inner city offices and work from home - This also presents the ability for customer service representatives to be home based, with regular meetings to ensure that the service is being provided correctly. You shouldn't expect to see the larger corporations (Banking and Supermarkets to name a few) doing this, however.
A specific example given here was web hosting businesses, and whilst the larger companies (Singlehop, 123-reg) are unlikely to be doing this, smaller companies which have maybe 100 clients could be interested in offering you a part-time position.
However, one of the key issues that stops the majority of companies offering remote location employment is that from the moment you go on their pay role, they are responsible for you through health & safety and national insurance. This is why many companies will ask you to be self-employed when you begin from home (Another example is door-to-door sales - Whilst almost all of the people selling you items are employed by a company, they are legally self employed and as such also avoid the 48 hour working week limit. Many will do 60+ hours).
