You could before by putting them in a room, then deleting the room... but now they would go straight into your inventory.

I remember when the crocodiles were released Habbo UK did a competition to give away crocodiles which were older than everyone elses (making them born on a day before they were released). So whoever won that competition would be the owner of the oldest crocodile
