I think refusing to do anything you get asked to do for the wedding would be selfish.

This i one of your parent's dads - how would you feel if you have kids in a few years times, then your dad dies - then they turn around and say 'I don't care'.

I was / am not close to any of my family, only one cousin. The rest I couldn't care if they carked it. I mean, i never see them, they live on the otherside of the world!

My Granddad died back in 2005, early hours of Halloween. We were extremely close, he was family too. Halloween has never been the same, and you need to be there for your family. As said before, its one of your parents dads, how would you feel if your kids did the same. People will need support in this sort of situation and I'm sure that some of them will rely on you! If you get the opportunity then carry the coffin.

I would carry it, paying your last respects to him and all... Sorry to hear your loss even if you weren't close

I'm really sorry to hear that. You can't choose your family as people have said, but it should be your choice as to whether you are comfortable carrying the coffin. If you feel in your heart you want to, then go ahead and do it. However if it feels awkward then I am sure your family will understand.

I hope everything goes well for you!
