Personally, because the causes are kinda unknown and it can go undetected...

this is probably the strangest question ive ever heard haha. thats like asking why the media only ever publish bad news about plane crashes. yeah sure there might be some survivers but just the fact that it happens is what makes it "bad news"

and i honestly don't see it as you described it, i probably hear just as many feel-good stories about people who have survived cancer as i have people who have died from it. really people who die from it usually just become statistics. hell, when i was in high school i had to read an entire book about lance armstrong's diagnosis and recovery from cancer (which was thus a happy story). really, i think cancer is one of the most RATIONAL things people fear. people fear stupid things that happen to so few people like terrorist attacks, plane crashes, swine flu etc. at least cancer effects an enormous amount of the population, i think it's completely reasonable to be scared of it.

...well wouldnt you too? lol its a really scary thing to have cancer, there is no cure and the odds of surviving certain types of it are pretty slim. i've never been faced with anything life-threatening, so if i had cancer, even if the doctors told me there would be an 80% chance i would survive, i would still be pretty terrified since 20% is still a reasonable chance.

Both of my grandfathers died of cancer & a woman I know has it, she's just gone partially blind. That's why I'm scared but I think if it didn't effect anyone I knew then I wouldn't be so afraid of it.
