i had avast! on my laptop and it wasn't very good

My dad in the computer engineering business and works for himself, he knows what's good etc. All I know is that you need some decent ram in your machine also downloading zonealarm (a free firewall) wouldn't go a miss, it helps a lot

Yes most virus scanners are not exactly what I'd call light weight. Prior to installing Trend Micro Security which is what I used to use before AVG, my computer booted 20 seconds quicker

That's not going to help you at all in terms of getting or removing a virus

Yeh best thing to do is go to Google and find a free virus checker and run that & hopefully it will tell you that you are virus free.

Personally, I don't agree with this. At all.

You should go to an anti-virus that is well known and works well. Hope you get it all sorted.
