It would be interesting to see if ClubHabbo's membership sign ups benefited positively from their application of this function. If they did, we would possibly consider it's implementation but as far as we can see without such statistics it would do more harm than good.

Personally when i'm browsing a forum and it decides to change it so that guests need to sign up, it's a real deterrent and I don't use the forum anymore.. hffm for example.

Habbox is used by a lot of people who come on as guests and I think it shouldn't force them to sign up if they want to view threads

Correct me if I'm wrong but was that 800+ members online thing not actually at all accurate and down to some technical change or glitch that had happened at the time? I seem to recall a big deal having been made of it at one point. Personally I think activity isn't all that terrible right now anyway especially considering some of the more prominent members leaving for uni and such recently, and as I once pointed out with stats and all sorts there is no problem with the number of people signing up, only with the number of new members actually sticking around, so forcing people to sign up (which is offputting anyway) would solve nothing

No, it's fine as it is. I'm not even going to comment in detail apart from say that I would be put off. I have never registered to ClubHabbo and the guest thread restriction is a prime reason why. It makes me feel thatit will be a forum of restrictions, restrictions and more restrictions.

Bad idea, when I browse a forum as a guest and see the whole "Yo, you gotta sign up to see more" thing, I never go back.

Never. The website should entice people in, not grab them by the squishy parts and drag them kicking and screaming. As others have said, it's off putting - furthermore a lot of guests are search engine spiders, bots and logged out regular users.

    90% sure it actually happened.
