I'm sure that if Rooney did leave Fergie would know what to do & besides he's got some good youngsters coming through too in Hernandez, Machaeda etc etc obviously they aren't in the same category as Rooney...

And on your comment about Berbaflop - i agree

Look at Beckham, Keane and Horse Face, it can happen and not just with the fringe players. Wayne Rooney is now refusing to extend his 18 month contract, not long till he can leave on a free.
Ferguson wanted those other players to go. You forget that. Rooney has been horribly out of form for 7 months. He's still undoubtedly a world class player. Until he says himself he wants to leave - it is media speculation. Has he said it? We don't know. That's where the term speculation originates from. It's all talk. Whether it is true or not - we can't assess. We can give those examples you've given in the paragraph I quoted and contrast them with the fact Rooney has publically (this whole argument hangs on that word) said he wants to play for United until he retires. Lets wait for something official. I've also seen papers say that City are going to sign Torres and Inter Milan will sign Messi in the last week.

i dont see why he would leave. he came out of the tunnel with smiles before kick off against West Brom. The media just want to get attention. This is a load of horse poop because I do not recall Rooney wanting to leave. I love how the odds appear aswel, he's favourite to join City? I dont have a good feeling that will happen...

p.s. i won't be surprised if he left and it wouldn't be awful for united. ronaldo was a better player and they've done OK - admittedly not as good. i think fergie would invest if rooney was sold. wouldn't even be surprised if fergie let the contract expire and resire at the end of that season too - 2011-12.

    He was there before?

I reckon Liverpool might grab him ;] haha. But no, if he goes, who do that have to replace him? No one...and tbh, they don't have the money to spend, they'd need any money from the sale to pay debts.

Wrong on both counts. They have people to replace him and they wouldn't have to pay the debt with any transfer money.

I know lots. Fundamentally, because I understand the goals of the media unlike the majority of people who post in this forum and this thread specifically.

now we can believe it. either way manchester united is the biggest footballing brand in the world and will continue to be with or without rooney. no player is bigger than the club. SAF seems genuinely hurt by this and the fans will almost undoubtedly turn on rooney. not because he wants to leave but because how he has treated the greatest footballing man alive.
