I used to think I ate barrels of food but I never gained any weight. But I was shocked to see that my calorie intake rarely got anywhere near to 2000 when my body was actually needing at least 2400 a day. Since starting to lift weights and having a high calorie/protein/carb diet, I have gained almost a stone in weight so far.

@FlyingJesus, if you ate like that everyday you wouldn't be so scrawny.

That's kinda the point, I do that maybe once every 2 weeks or so to kick start my metabolism again rather than to put on weight, was just proving that it's entirely possible. At my heaviest I was eating probably just over half that every day but that was disgusting

that's good isn't it, until you become too skinny.
Just measure your daily calorie intake and make sure it goes over like 2000 then you'll be gaining weight.

2000 calories is too low for the average male. I'm only 15 (and slim) yet my body needs almost 2600 calories a day. I'm not even that active either!

I was having this exact same issue, i thought my metabolism was high and i couldnt put on weight even though i ate alot.
Simply you just think your eating alot. If you want to put on weight add an extra meal into your day and eat alot more protein.
I believe its like every pound you weigh you should eat a gram of protein for weight gain (ex: if you weigh 150, you should eat 150g of protein per day if not more)

I actually started doing the above (extra meal + protein) pretty recently and i've already gained 7 pounds just this week.
