I'm not a fan of the pointless posting rule myself.

Pointless posting is when a post is completely out of context with previous posts.

This is my interpretation of it and I'll be discussing with Martin ways we can both encourage moderators to better interpret some posts and how to word the rule so its a true reflection of what it is.

@Afterbirth - something that commonly happens with Trialists is that they will swing between overly leniant and unsure towards being strict before they find their middle ground. Moderation is a knack you have to pick up through experience of the job and all the moderation team works with them to ensure they are reaching this point .

The Pointless Posting rule is getting bit out of hand. But, as Jamesy said, it's mainly trialists when they want to pass their trial. But some don't understand by 'over-doing' it will lead to failing . As most people have said, it's normally when you post in a thread under the wrong circumstances, say, if you posted about Habbo in a Runescape forum. That's going to be pointless posting e.t.c.

So, maybe your joke wasn't about the thread? I'm probably wrong. But it's what just came through my head

Imagine yourself reading a serious thread and everyone is debating a certain point, and then somebody comes in with a joke.
Its not going to help the conversation flow and will probably cause arguements within the thread meaning it has to close.
The main reason the rule is there, in my opinion, is not only to stop people spamming, but to the stop the inevitable arguements that will happen because of the unnecessary post.
Before you post, read the thread TITLE and check if your post has anything to do with it, if not, then it's best not to post.
This means if reading through a thread about, idk, a cool room, and you see somebody post something you disagree with, its best not to make a post to prove them wrong, because it's not actually anything to do with the cool room,
I'm not sure how much sense that made, but I'm in complete agreeance with the strictness of the rules, in fact I think they could be stricter, such as when people post in Habbo General something small and you get 20-30 people posting "I agree", which to me, is just trying to get free post count.

Yeah, this is decidedly the main problem I see at the moment, interpretation of rules, not the rules themselves. It'll probably always be an ongoing issue :/

No no no, don't make the rules less strict, make sure moderators have a degree of common sense instead. Pointless posting is when a post is completely out of context with previous posts. Some people I have noticed don't understand this. Discussions and conversations evolve and change, and dishing out PMs for something that's going to happen no matter what is a waste of time and effort. People are allowed to joke, and if the joke is in context then leave it. It's a forum for teenagers, not a concentration camp for the undesirable. It's this serious and formal attitude which needs to be removed completely from Habbox, it did disappear for a while but seems to reveal its ugly head every now and again

+ one I mean moderators need to lighten up and get the context of a joke. It's like its a forum where everyone has to be friends and you can't have any arguments what so ever, it's stupid. In basically every thread I go in, theres a post removed from a moderator, it's stupid. No wonder people are leaving this forum all the time, it's like a prison, they come on here for fun, not to get told off for stating their opinion or slightly going off topic.

We will always stop people from arguing. The internet is full of immature people that find the need to flame and troll and there is frankly no reason to be rude on the internet. That is our outlook and it will always remain.

Flamers and trollers are only compensating for their own pathetic character in real life. It really is for the best I mean just look at youtube comments "/.
