I like the forum and it looks nice and I hope it is a success for you, I also love you colour scheme but you could improve on it slightly! Maybe some bits around etc. Would you be able to move "Forum Stats", "Latest Threads" and all those bits down to the bottom or give them their own page? It'd look a lot neater. I really do like the look and idea of your site though. It looks extremely welcoming and friendly!

As someone has already pointed out, make it so everyone can read threads but only registered users can post. It's really frustrating when there is a restriction like that.

Poetry can be discussed in the creativity forum, yes. There's a restriction like that because people don't want their creativity things stolen. They get VERY upset when I make things public. Some things are public though.

That's what watermarking and stuff is for, although I know some things like poetry are harder to protect.
At the moment I think the restriction is doing more harm than good. Some forums do stuff like restrict image viewing to members only, that would protect photographs and other visual creations, and the poets can post their stuff as images if they're really bothered. I think it's worth trying.

Too much text and not enough eye candy. Try shortening the description of your forums, sum them up in one sentence. You seem to have a nice little community though.

What sort of eyecandy do you think would be good?

I have one little touch to start you off with? I am basically an icon fanatic so maybe you should start by replacing your thread icon:

With far more lovely notebook icons?

Just seems to put 2+2 together in my opinion, based on your name of course.

Lovely icons might be a good idea. I personally like a fixed width layout more than a stretched as well. Perhaps a nicer logo would make the forum appeal more.

Thanks so much for the icon ideas! Do you think there are some out there where the tick is in orange? It's become sort of a 'thing' on our forum for people to associate the orange tick with us. Perhaps that's silly and I should just get over it. Those notebooks are very lovely, and I really like that they show different sections to the notebook too.

I agree, it's a bit white and boring and it needs a bit more color!

I really like it though, it sounds like a really nice site.
