Sperm is very unlikely to live when exposed to the air, the temperatures usually have an effect on how long.
Pre-ejaculation can contain sperm but a very little amount.
For example, If you've got yourself into a situation where you were intimate with someone without protection and sperm that was open to the air came into contact with their "sexual area" then if it was a female I would advise a pregnancy test.
