A massive tsunami hit many areas such as Japan, Hawaii etc, in 1960 due to a massive earthquake 160km away from the coast of Chile. So it might just be another natural disaster, many areas around the world suffer with these

Also, nobody actually talked a lot about 2012 only a few people until the film '2012' was released..
I've always been aware of 2012 before the movie, as my family and i, always visit mexico around every 2 years , and we've been to the mayan temples , the villages, the grave yards. I also have a stone mayan calendar itself what hangs on my wall.

When a calendar finishes, you get a new one. They just have a different calendar to us. That's all it is if I remember correctly lol. These natural disasters are just that, natural and not a sign of things to come.

I think they just got fed up of making this calendar and decided to call it a day (they would have been around forever if they had carried on writing it), or they got wiped out before they were able to finish, or they ran out of ink or something, could be either.

I think this is perhaps relating to that thing with the moon being close, I heard it mentioned recently that it could trigger more horrific events like this.

Oh do be quiet. The Mayans couldn't predict their own extinction, let alone the end of the ******* world.

Natural disaster. 2012 is a load of **** if you believe it...lol @ you.

The Mayan calendar does NOT end. It simply turns over from Baktun (like our century/Millenium) 12 to Baktun 13.

On the 19th March, the Moon is closer to earth than it has ever been. This is causing all the events.

I'm not so sure if that's totally correct. They were overdue a big earthquake anyway so until it's confirmed I don't really believe you But I have heard about the moon being closest to the earth next week!

    And New Zealand?

It will never be confirmed, can you prove something like that?

nope. the moon is just a bit closer than it normally is for this time of year, affecting the wave/tide patterns since the gravity of the moon has an effect on the tide patterns.
