wat. 560 Ti is a great card for price.I think you need a new computer, this one already sounds at least several hours old.
Also your fault for getting a terrible graphics card but 8GB of RAM (Which btw is a really bad idea with DDR3) also you should try running it in 32bit compatibility mode and fiddling with graphics driver settings.
Sounds to me like a corrupt chunk in the game, it's a fairly common problem on big enough maps with lots of chunks on.
There is a simple tool somewhere where it locates the corrupt chunk and fixes/removes it (for it to regenerate), but i'm too tired to search for it tonight!
i'm out of touch, i'm out of love
i'll pick you up when you're getting down
and out of all these things i've done
i think i love you better now
You were wrong with pretty much everything in this post.
1. The graphics card is great.
2. There are no problems with 8GB and DDR3.
3. No such thing as 32bit compatibility mode.

Drop view distance down to far and it'll sort the issue mostly. It'll still black screen every so often (happens to me) but nowhere near as much

Strange tbh, I have my MC settings maxed out and I have near enough the same specs as you but with an ATI 5850.
Well, i have the same problem.
i7 2600k
8gb 1600mhz DDR3
GTX 570
Running off an SSD.
Changing the render distance to normal stops the crashes. BUT, i'd rather have it on far..
Render distance as far crashes the client on any computer from what I've heard. It might be okay playing it through the website rather than the downloadable client though.
Well, it doesnt crash my Macbook on far. So it could be a 64 bit problem?

Been playing with it set to far on 64bit with no crashes or graphical glitches since I bought the game months and months ago.
