E3 Hype: Nintendo unveiling new console

Can I ask: what is it with all of you wanting "good graphics", isn't the actual software (THE GAMES) where it's at?

Well, no. I want my game to look nice. You could argue minecraft, but minecraft looks quite nice with the whole retro feel to it. Besides, I want to see every thread of Mario's mustache.

Nintendo used to dominate the console market, now they're fading out. I actually hope this is good, although my gut instinct says it will be another fail.

I have a Wii & PS3. The Wii was fun for stuff like Guitar Hero & mario Karts - nothing else. The graphics on the Wii are nothing compared to PS3 and I hate the controller - it's so annoying. I hope Nintendo go back to their ways of N64 etc. because that was truly the God of all consoles.

I'll get this new console if: It has good graphics, the controller is the usual handheld, not Wii-style, it doesn't have stupid kiddie "Mii's" etc. That just irritated the **** out of me after about 2 hours on Wii Sports.

70m+ sales and the best selling games this gen (despite 1 or 2 being bundled very heavily i.e. wii sports) isn't exactly what I call fading out, but their software is in terms of 3rd parties.

They're no more than a simpler version of the avatars you can have on Xbox, which (might I add) probably wouldn't even exist had Nintendo not come up with the whole Mii concept in the first place.

Indeed, graphics are usually one of the last things I consider in both a console or a game.

They're fading out? Yeah, that's why the DS is near apporaching the best selling console of all time. And why are Mii's irritating, may I ask? They're no more than a simpler version of the avatars you can have on Xbox, which (might I add) probably wouldn't even exist had Nintendo not come up with the whole Mii concept in the first place.

DS has over taken the PS2 now. In all fairness, home consoles are probably harder to sell but bad news (well not really) for sony.

If the graphics are **** the games aren't fun.

I mean fading out as in their consoles keep getting worse and worse. To be fair the 3DS looks really good, but I hate how compared to the PSP - the DS has awful graphics (not 3DS, just DS/DSi) and the Wii is rubbish. I think the avatar ideas in general are stupid - why do you need one? I don't have Xbox, and PS3 doesn't have them?

I hear Minecraft sobbing away in the corner when I read those sorts of comments I prefer a good game with a good story, the graphics are just a bonus. It'll be interesting what else comes of the Wii successor

I'm guessing you've never played with a Wii before? The Miis are just there to have as a picture, an "avatar" for your account like you have with your PS3 and Xbox 360 (or the PS3 at least, not sure what the Xbox has for user images). Miis aren't essential, they're just useful for using as a placeholder for a profile picture. Most games do not require them.

The Miis are just there to have as a picture, an "avatar" for your account like you have with your PS3 and Xbox 360 (or the PS3 at least, not sure what the Xbox has for user images). I don't use most of the channels on the PS3. I don't complain about them :S Heck, at least with the Wii you can hide the Mii Channel from the main window, unlike the PS3. How are they annoying and pointless? They're non-essential for most games, they only appear in Wii Games e.g. Wii Sports, Wii Fit and the rare appearance in games like Animal Crossing.

Graphics add to the enjoyment of a game, not create it. Thats how I see it in most games. Well art style, not graphics. I dislike the mario art style if you will. I.E. where would the fun in god of war be without the blood effects and high def boobies? Well in god of war 1 and 2 but I'm saying that the better effects and graphics help improve the gameplay and fun but doesnt make the fun. Like I would quite like a proper HD option for minecraft as it would be much nicer on the eye but I wouldnt buy it just to wander around and watch the fancy graphics spawn blocks. It's like looking for a relationship. Their looks will interest you for a little bit and bring the initial interest (graphics) but their personality (gameplay) will keep you interested in the long run. Metaphor over.
