I was certain that UKIP would get at least one seat in the Welsh Assembly today! Disappointing for them, looks like the regional list didn't help them out as they thought.

SNP claim overall majority in Scotland, this is going to be very interesting. Will the Scottish Parliament be allowed to hold a referendum?

The leader of the SNP has said that a referendum will go ahead. Isn't it quite a grey area constitutionally? Seeing as the parliament in West Minister is sovereign that they are the only ones who can truly declare Scotland Independent?

It is a very, very grey issue. David Cameron has declared that he will "fight with every fibre in his body" to keep the United Kingdom as that. Of course it would need to get through Westminster to declare Scotland independent so we'll see about that when we get to it.

Salmond has promised an independence in the second half of the term so we won't really know for a while, it will be very interesting though because it simply isn't economically viable for Scotland to become independent.

To be honest I'm surprised just how well the Tories and SNP did, and how Labour did not take advantage of the spending cuts to make huge council gains, although they have taken control of mine *sign*.

    lol libdems.
    One for the road.

Good results for Tories so far, have actually GAINED 3 councils & 60 councillors - when most predicted losses.
UKIP I haven't been following but from brief things I've seen they've done well.

Really happy the SNP got a majority. I hope Scotland vote YES for independence - so they have no say in our laws. Then we just need to oust out NI & Wales and I'm a happy londoner. (Y)

    a) I'm not going in a car with somebody who randomly knocks on our door
    b) If I was to vote, I would have voted Labour

Lib dems are getting desperate me thinks
Are you old enough to vote? If you are, why didn't you vote?

Robbie, what would you call UKIP if Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales all became independent?

EIP - English Independence Party I have no problem with Scotland, Wales & NI being united with England, but what I DO have a problem with is that England do not have their own Government. How I see it is that we all should have ONE Government - no stupid assemblies or independent governments - who makes laws for the WHOLE of the UK, everyone votes for that. OR we ALL have our OWN Governments - no one can vote in anyone else's (eg; currently Wales, Scotland & NI can vote for who runs England, yet England CANNOT vote for who runs Scotland, Wales & NI) and they all can make independent and different laws. None of this semi-independent different laws, voting for different countries nonsense.
