Haha I must admit I disagree, if there's a scenario to use a Taser, this is one of them. Instead they seem to prefer using them against potential terrorists, gunmen and drunk idiots scrapping on nights out but anyway.

He's brandishing a weapon he could throw at someone when he has a muscle spasm caused by the taser... I wouldn't want to be within 50 metres of the place

It'd certainly make for an interesting game. Dodge the machete as it's throw uncontrollably in a random direction.

I think it's amazing how certain country's can control situations like this without using guns. Fair play to the officers.

This is what we get with 'care in the community'. They managed the situation well, though.

Well if anyone ever wants to rob a bank, you know how to create a distraction that engages a whole ******* police force for you.

ROFL. I thought our police were bad. At least they get on with it with 'minimal' effort, usually by tazering offenders.

This ain't minimal effort - imagine how many officers would of been disrupted by this, shoot him. Get it over & done with. What if he ran into the house and like took someone hostage; exactly. didn't think bout that.

I think the Police handled this situation well. No one was injured as a result, apart from one officer who sprayed CS in his own face (seen towards the end of the video). Also those were level 3 officers who aren't trained to use a Taser gun so that pretty much rules out the use of the Taser. Hats off to the Constables who tackled the man with the machete with limited resources.

Waste of a perfectly good bullet. The man wouldn't of gone into a house anyway, the people inside would have the brains to know not to open the front door which is surrounded by police and a man more interested in dancing with a wheelie bin (with the assistance of an officer). Shooting him = waste of a perfectly good bullet. Tazering = a game of dodge the machete.

It was minimal effort. If they injured him it would be a waste of resources to drag him kicking and screaming to a hospital to have him checked out for the after effects of tazering and any bullet holes a trigger happy imbesile put into him. The only bizarre thing about this scenario was the fact they had about 30 officers on the scene.

Interesting. One part of me thinks all the Police would have to do is show a gun and he'd run a mile, although I do think they handled the situation rather well indeed.
