the director was changed during the making of the video and they had little time to finish it
also people complained she went too far with music videos, and too calm down/do something basic so this is what she has done![]()
I heard they had 3 days to shoot it, but only took one?
Sure it would have been much better given the full 3 days, but there's probably not much you can do with a building and a fire escape..
(ps the video sucks, even for today's standards)

Well, the song was a bit unGaga so I'm already disappointed, and watching the video just makes me frown as I watch it, and my opinions of the song get worse each time I hear it.
people know me because of that shower thing one time and I do not regret anything
upon further review I feel a rather mild regret is warranted
I do remember thinking the other week about, this song will be really hard to make a video out of, i don't know why it just doesn't seem like a music video worthy song. And I would of though this would have more emotion because it's about her grandad isn't it?
It's about her grandfather dying, she's hardly going to do a video like Telephone or Judas for that, is she?

It was inspired by her grandfather."One of the songs on the album that is truly one of my favorites, it's called 'Edge of Glory' and it's kind of a sad story. Sorry to be a downer. But my grandpa died about five months ago, and my dad and I were going to say goodbye to him at the hospital, and I got out a big thing of agave tequila and my dad sat next to me at the piano and we started to doing shots back and forth, and I wrote 'Edge of Glory' on the piano and my dad and I cried. The song's about your last moment on Earth, the moment of truth, the edge of glory is that moment right before you leave the Earth. So that song can be played on the piano, but it's actually set to this giant, huge, techno rock, Springsteen-esque dance beat. I actually had Clarence Clemons from the E Street Band come in and play saxophone on it. It's ******* beautiful."
LOL lovin da shout outsuch a good song, but i just got bored of watching her walk up and down the path and gyrating on the fire escape lol.
idk if it's true but i did read that it was supposed to be directed by joseph kahn but creative differences arised as she waited more input, led to him being fired and thus haus of gaga thus directing the video? i'm sure someone will say whether that's true or not (looking at you judas), but yeah - that's a big pity.
basically what you said is right, but no one was "fired". there's still a few pieces of the puzzle missing, no one really knew exactly what happened but there were 3 days of shooting, the first involved gaga and dancers etc and a big production that we would expect from her, directed by kahn. then day 2 of filming she sent all her dancers home, kahn left (whether he disagreed and stormed off, was fired, or was politely told he wasn't needed anymore we don't know), scrapped the big production and filmed the video that we now have on her own with clarence clemons (the saxophonist), and day 3 was scrapped.
no one knows why gaga decided it would be better to release this simple video instead of the big budget one that was planned, but she and the haus of gaga directed it and it was edited by them and people at the label.
kind of a messy situation. and in the end i was pretty underwhelmed with the video, but i do really like it for what it is, i think it's a nice tribute to her grandfather (kissing the ground), and NYC. when you take away what it could have looked like it and all the disappointment that comes with that it's not THAT bad. it's just because it's so different of what everyone would expect from lady gaga.
