I'm pretty curious as to where he's from as well - the majority of the people I asked, thought he was from Singapore because of his name. I kinda hope he's English though - we have no English managers at the moment : ( (Wish lost_witness had remained manager) .

And it's not that vital if he's not that experienced in-client . Managers don't spend that often on the hotel - I remember seeing the application on the Sulake website (I was linked by a friend) and it's more to do with advertising.
