Does Canada not have a similar system to Student Finance England?

Surely you can't be expected to pay tuition and living fees all up front?

i find it very sad that someone's educational future will be decided via a facebook poll.

It's not fair at all, especially considering his average is over 95% and he's in three AP courses. If he was a girl, or if he was aboriginal or African-Canadian there would be dozens of scholarships he would be able to get really easily. There's a girl the other year who had a 70% average and got a 40 thousand dollar scholarship. I don't think it's fair that you can get a scholarship for being a girl, or being a certain skin color. I think it should be based off who's willing to work the hardest and who needs the money the most.

obviously i can't relate as the system here in the uk is basically an education for "everyone", but it is tragic and i hope yr friend succeeds in life whether he gets this scholarship or not.

You are very kind to help your friend out. But I'm sure there are thousands of students who have similar problems. And it is really nonsensical at how they pick the best application out. Shouldn't they use interview method or any other better methods? Judging them via polls are extremely unfair as it will be based on popularity. However, I voted for him and I wish him all the best in getting this scholarship. He's very lucky to have a friend like you and trust me. If he's a smart guy, he'll succeed in whatever he wants to do because universities don't mean much nowadays.
