It wasn't on my laptop booklet either (actually I didn't get one with it). I searched my laptop make and model in google and found info on how to restore to factory settings. It was like F8 on the page which shows the company logo. To be safe I would search online and make sure it is your make of laptop, you don't want to damage your laptop (or maybe you do lol)

If it's windows vista PLEASE reinstall windows, it means your installation is probably three years old and a reinstall would do wonders for your computer's performance.

You don't need to get rid of Vista, just reinstall it. Absolutely free.

That's if you have a disc - see if you have any discs that came with the laptop as sometimes you'll get one to basically reformat it or set it to factory settings.

You could try and look up the programs and see what's what - a lot of people install stuff stop using it but leave it on and as it adds up the space obviously gets full. I have an external so if I download something and don't use it any more but might in the future, I put the download on there so I can simply plug it in and re-install it any time I want.

The newest version of c cleaner has some handy stuff in to - looking at the start up part will show you programs running at start up - basically you only need the main things e.g. soundcard driver if there, security suite - if you have things like itunes, adobe, google, msn etc. deleting them will basically prevent them running at start up (you can still run them later on). This will in turn speed up booting at least. Now chrome has two other parts in the start up bit - Internet Explorer add-ons - see what add-ons IE has turned on - turn them off or delete them for speeding browser loading times and also a new scheduled task thing - sometimes windows will have scheduled tasks for start up e.g. check adobe flash, chrome etc for updates - disabling/deleting these will also slow updates.

I'd recommend finding what you do and don't need, uninstalling them and then doing a registry scan with CCleaner as programs often leave unneeded registry keys when uninstalled that can slowly build up and clog the system a little.

Finally do you have a security suite? some security suites are decent but some can be full up with too many features that they end up effecting the pc as they end up using too many resources.
