Yeah, this has been policy for years and years. You can't talk about other user bans - they will only discuss it with the account owner or their legal guardian if they are underage. I know Habbo Support has quite a bad rep but you really aren't helping things with the way you talk to them. To address your point, though - yes, they make weird and unnecessary bans all of the time. Best of luck to your friend getting his account back!

I don't see how your friend deserved a ban because looking at the chat log, they never said anything about selling their account but his reply was okay, they're not going to a discuss bans with people other than the person who owns the account so there is no need to be rude to them. Just get your friend to speak to him and hopefully they'll get it back.

hmm i can see the point that the mods are trying to get across. Your friend should of written the appeal really as then he / she could discuss it. It is a silly reason to get banned and more and more people are getting banned for silly reasons lately.
I hope your friend gets unbanned
