Surely a VPN would just circumvent the block anyway?

Because they requested a few weeks to look into their options in the case, likelihood is they will be included in this too in a month or so though.

Any method of tunnelling your traffic (or even just using another DNS provider such as OpenDNS, if this is how they block it) will circumvent it.

this won't solve anything, tpb is but one of a lot of torrent sites. if people can't get it there, they'll get it somewhere else.

... the entire internet is a star network. What you're looking for is high availability.

Pointless. You can go after one but there is plenty more out there and there will be plenty more to come. It isn't going to prevent anything, it just means people will just have to find a new site to use.

Bad news really, even though we can still access it illegally it's still shameful on them to be taking this into their own hands. IMO Sweden are responsible for bringing it down - and since it violates no swedish law it should be left.

It is wrong but it's a way of life at the moment, people will find a way around it - even I do it, doesn't make me a bad person. Btw I had to post this comment from that news article. it made me laugh

Close it down now!! These sites fund the drugs trade, terrorism & pornography.

Anyone using these sites should be charged as an accomplice to murder!!!

There's nothing illegal about going on ThePirateBay.

If they ban it won't it be illegal to access it just like it's illegal to get uncut versions of films that are partly banned in the country
