That must have been quite worrying, I would have panicked, as it’s something that has always bothered me. Because it’s too easy to push the backing in too far. I think you call the back a butterfly. Also some earrings have a long post and I have found they dig into me when I sleep, so opted to buy some plastic butterflies which seem to work well.

I've never had the back go in but I've had the front of the earring go all the way into my ear once. That was fun
It was the first time I got them pierced when I was 6 I think. Didn't put me off getting them done again though, I got them re-pierced a couple of years after
