Get the price of the food and divide by the number of people

I'm currently on my iPhone if you are seeing this message! I cannot participate in spam wars xx

people know me because of that shower thing one time and I do not regret anything

upon further review I feel a rather mild regret is warranted

Well where I work the roast is only available as part of a BBQ package. During the autumn/winter months people don't want to be outside getting their food and nor do the chefs want to be outside cooking it. PPP depends on what you offer, at work we charge £1 per: burger, sausage, small ribs etc per person. I guess you'd have to work it out yourself if you have a whole pig or what ever cuts of meat you want to offer.

They also work for leaving and house parties. The biggest problem faced from the side of the customer is price, when I looked into a hog roast/spit roast, people were put off by the cost of paying over £10 for one, when a regular BBQ is better value. It all depends on the target market, and if you can find the gap in the market for it in your area. If you live in an area where people are happy to have the showiness of a hog roast and happy to pay for it, then you should be good to go.

I suggest doing some research into how much rival companies charge, and see if you can beat their prices while maintaining a good quality of service.

If this is a proper business idea you plan to do locally check if anyone locally would use it, work out the prices and importantly check if there is any competition close by.

I have actually done this before.

A friend of mine does all kinds of weird crap (his full time job being making his own charcoal :S) and one of his business is hog roasts. It isn't a unique idea and you will find people do it in every area, it is hard work the pig takes hours to cook so much so that it is on the spit the night before the event so it is cooked by the morning. If you don't have an electric rotator then you need to turn the spit at intervals to keep it moist. He also has a local baker supply the bread rolls and makes the apple sauce.

On the day of the event he will usually have the roast carved in the back and kept in a bain marie to be served. He charges extra for service or people can have self-service instead. The days profit will not be much more than £50 at his prices which isn't enough to sustain a living but enough to spend down the pub with us. For extra he will do a presentation carve which is where the roast is kept warm over a low heat and chunks are taken off at a time for carving and serving.
