i know exactly what you mean. i find it so much easier to defend myself irl, say how i really feel or to walk away. on here it's written for everyone to see and all their friends can chip in whereas irl it would probably only be one person doing the arguing/bullying and the rest too scared to

plus it's all catty and you can see them talking about you or hinting things whereas irl its mostly behind your back lol

don't think it has. mind you, i've been on here for almost 8 years (active for the majority of that time), so i guess it must have at some point. i've never personally been offended by things aimed at me on here, from when i first started to now. even though i've been here forever, i still haven't invested enough emotions onto people's opinions if they're negative (mainly because i don't know the people/will never see them/doesn't actually mean anything in the grand scale of things, so why would i need to be offended lol). noticed that i'm not really that different online compared to irl so yh...

Default How has Habbox changed you/your life?

Well I've only been here for a few months and havn't met many people but I think I'm going to like here. Its good that I can talk to people about things which I don't talk about otherwise :/

For me personally it's changed my life in more ways than I could ever imagine a website doing. I don't have friends irl and very rarely do I speak to people face to face unless it is my immediate family, and even then I hardly speak to them. I don't go out much and the only 'social' life I get is from Slimming World which is for a couple of hours a week. Yeah people pick on my imperfections on here but at the same time there are people on here that realise how I'm doing all these changes for the better and a lot have been very supportive of it.

I've met people irl through this and have met people I would hope to be my friends for a long time to come. I may have only been active on here for a little while compared to a lot of you but I guess I was just so scared to get involved I just shyed away from it all. But in those six months I have genuinely become so much more happier in myself and it's because of the nice comments I receive daily from people and the amazing attitude of my friends here.

And sometimes the little banter or negativity you receive from people can help you more than make you feel worse. I know it has helped me to grow stronger and more confident. Yeah I've had those times where I've got really upset by things that people have said or done. Or people who no longer want to speak to me but at the same time people come and go out of your lives all the time so I guess Habbox has helped me to deal with that too.

Far as I'm concerned I've met some amazing people on here irregardless of whether they like me or they don't like me. And it's safe to say the majority have helped me to grow as a person in so many ways and I genuinely do thank Habbox for that. Six months ago no way would I have trekked to London and walked around the shops all day having actual real fun with people who I have grown so close to. And knowing I have all these other fantastic and amazing things to come just makes it all the more better really.

If it wasn't for Habbox I don't really know where I'd be, my life would be completely different and I'd be a completely different person. Someone from Habbox set me up with my ex so yeah, if I hadn't gone through that relationship everything would be completely different and god knows where I'd be. I've also met some friends for life at Habbox and learnt a fair bit about myself.

a little bit of both really. i don't think i've shown my true self around habbox as much as i wanted to because it's easy to be judged by saying a few things, so i've just ended up building a wall around me and still people knock me down. i act quite rude online (srry 2 every1 x) but it's mainly because i don't want to be hurt and stuff and that's the only way i've really defended myself. some people on here have just been absolute idiots and have made habbox kinda not worth it, some of the insults and comments you can get online is stupid and does hurt, but i try not acting like i care as that's encouraged people to carry on. i sometimes wish i wouldn't spend so much time at habbox because it's not always a good experience and it's lowered my self esteem by a bit. i'm way more insecure because of habbox, although i think it's generally the internet that's made me insecure, as usually being at home and online is an escape but not really anymore.

some of the better things were making friends, i don't really have any close friends irl and i can't open up to them, but it feels great to know that you can open up to people online and they're there to help you and stuff. although, i haven't really opened up completely on the forum, just to people i've met because of habbox. also like cameron discovering what i wanna do when i'm older, i've always loved films but habbox has helped me learn about education and jobs and stuff, it's been really useful for applying for college and things, and getting tips for interviews.

i've also learnt a lot about myself that i didn't really know or hadn't discovered, not sure if that's a good or bad thing, could be seen in both ways imo.

    the internet sux

The biggest problem with trying to shrug off internet opinions is that yeah they might be a bunch of strangers who don't really know you, but that coupled with the fact that there are little to no recriminations for acting out online means that everyone's free to be just as blunt and potentially truthful as they like - in the real world you don't get that so much because people have to be a little more tactful and hold back for the most part. Definitely makes no sense at all when people say "oh it's just the internet", agreed

It's made me pull my hair out at job applications when all the 'examples' (good customer service, listening to others, been a team player) are all Habbox related that make no sense without context.

I don't really know how it's changed me too much. I sorta changed elsewhere and just dragged that along with me to Habbox. I've learnt how to manage a team and my time in comps was really good to my self-esteem as I've been manager at fansites in the past and I think I was too young and did everything wrong. The positive response I largely got from it (although I do think I was fortunate enough to have an amazing assistant working with me hi alex you stalker) helped prove I could do it. I've also learnt to stick to my principles and trust my instincts. It does mean that I might not have many friends but does mean the ones I do have matter and that people mostly respect you in the long term. I've met some great people on here too who I hope I'll still be in contact with once Habbox is no longer a big part of my life.

On the more negative side, I've also seen how bitter and twisted some people are and see the massive lengths they go to make someone's life hell. Oh god and the constant whinging about little things that don't matter has made me realise how laidback I am (perhaps too laidback at times).
