the top bit should drag down when you drag down

It's usually on the far right side of the keyboard on a laptop.

Alternatively you can use the page up and page down keys, just as quick.

Should have the word "Home" on it but I am not even sure if laptops have it.

Mine does, but it's with the number pad. So I doubt a laptop would have it unless it has the num pad @Mk, (on the right)
