This item can be utilised in a half-decent way. Any furni stacked inside with a Stack Tile will be behind the glass, at any level under 1.3. If you put a trophy in there at 0.7, it does a good job of covering the existing ones, this would work better with larger trophies (like Man-Eating Monster Plant). 2x2 items also look ok stacked.
