it really depends for me on the genre, like i mainly listen to either electronic/house/edm/dance or indie stuff, and for the first obviously the tune and beat and everything is far more important for me, though good lyrics will still boost it but i couldnt care so much. for the indie stuff i do care a lot more though and good lyrics do generally decide on whether or not i like the songs, but i still put the melody/overall sound as number one most important even with that though

Yes, that's how i like/dislike a song. Well, not to mention that the beat is also take into consideration to determine how well it is suited with the lyrics.

Most of my favourite songs don't have lyrics, so no.

Not really for me. I like singing along but the lyrics don't normally 'mean something'. Plus quite a few of the artists I listen to either have lyrics that make no sense, have lyrics in another language, or don't have any lyrics at all.

I'd hold the music more in regard, which is why i don't mind listening to music in other languages that i don't know. but i also appreciate the lyrics as it could be a huge turn off when you listen to songs that literally revolves around break ups and relationships (taylor swift). then again, the importance of the elements of songwriting depends on the music genre. so it's the vocals + music that usually attracts me first, but what keeps me listening to a song or an album again and again is often both

It depends. Sometimes I might like a song but don't understand the meaning of it, but at the same time if the lyrics are obviously crap it might put me off e.g. all the lyrics in friday ha.

I do listen to some singer songwriter stuff, David Ford being a favourite, so the lyrics are important and sometimes do reach me.
