I'd love for the olympics to come back, but it's so unlikely. Saying that, it wouldn't be the first time it was hosted in London as a kind of last minute back up iirc.

Problem is it will cost a lot to get the venues and so back into the way they were to host an Olympics which makes this very unlikely. I'm sure Rio will hopefully get there stuff sorted and host a great Olympics.

The London 2012 Olympics was amazing, but hosting it in London again so soon just wouldn't be the same not to mention they wouldn't have had as much time to prepare. I doubt it'll happen, but I wouldn't mind if it did .

Seems unlikely, most of the park has been altered in such a way that changing it back to an Olympic Park would be impossible or at the very least mean forcing businesses and residents out of the area which probably have a stake in the land (the village where the athletes live being one).

Last I heard the rumours were that the World Cup was coming here, not the Olympics as one of the stadiums for the football isn't complete and it needs to be by the end of the month. But that would be crazy seeing as we lack the infrastructure and logistics to host a football tournament. That may have been breaking news that turned out false or was meant to be about the Olympics but someone thought football.

It seems like it would be cheaper just to send more people to people the Rio Stadiums and Centres for the Olympics, rather than cut the losses and ask another nation to re-build or re-erect infrastructure. It seems more likely to just appear in Rio with Brazil being forced to invest more in getting the work done sooner.

I can't remember tbh but found this:
At a comparable planning stage in 2004 Athens had done 40 per cent of preparations on infrastructure, stadiums and so on. London had done 60 per cent. Brazil has done 10 per cent — and they have just two years left.

    Yep, that's right!
While highly unusual, a move of the Games to London would not, in fact, be unprecedented. The 1908 Summer Olympics were originally scheduled to take place in Rome, Italy, but were then held in London after an eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 1906 had put Italy under severe financial strain.

I'd like to see the Olympics returned permanently back to their true home in Greece.

That said, i'm just not someone who gets excited in the slightest by people running around a track, kicking a ball or throwing things.

I don't think Rio is going to be finished on time if I'm honest.

Would be nice if London had them again.
