Vinegar, tea tree, etc might repel them but it's not guaranteed to work.

Just remember you cannot catch nits if she doesn't put her head near your head. Make sure you tie your hair right up and leave it alone. Plus keep her away from any fabric in your bedroom, particularly your bed- don't let her anywhere near your bed! If she does get anywhere near it, just change your sheets before you sleep in it again and you'll be fine. Maybe remove anything in your room like rugs or cushions just whilst she's there (although I think it's very unlikely you'll put your head on the rug after her.)

Oh and hair dye does NOT repel nits at all. You're just as likely to catch nits with your hair dyed than you are without.

Basically just make sure you don't put your head anywhere near where she put hers for 12 - 24 hours after. And check your head with a nit comb the following morning just to make sure.

or u can just put shampoo on the girl make her sit down with shampoo in get a nit comb brush through her hair and catch the buggers? make sure you get the eggs around back off the head too! then if she is still itching make her lean over ya bath and pour vinegar on her head initially she will scream for like 5 mins because she will have cuts on her head from where the nit has sucked her blood... but they literally fall out straight away i remember all this from when i was like 7 and if you feel you can't do this pass it on to her mother pmsl

I don 't know why her mum is giving her to you with them? Surely she should already have been fine combing and putting treatment on it :S I would prob buy my own fine comb and do my own hair each night to make sure. We used to have tea tree oil to put on our hair in primary too.

You can get it in the supermarkets as a shampoo - Alberto Balsam do them, just wash your hair as normal and you should be good.

And @Yuxin; if u do end up getting nits u should ask me because i have the ultimate knowledge about how to get rid of them

because so many people come into the pharmacy with their kids asking how to get rid of nits not because i get nits all the time omg no that's not what i meant
it's disgusting once a small child scratched right over the counter and two nits fell off his head i was so tempted to ask him to just leave

Ew, I got nits when I did work experience in the nursery a few years back and they're the most vile, disgusting things ever. I had to use this moosey stuff overnight to kill them all and since then I'm always checking my hair... Try just wearing your hair up so there's less of it for them to catch on to.
