From then on, it continued to get worse and worse and the ECB and EU still didn't do anything about it. Why? Because as I keep saying, it was never about economics and was always about politics.

A simple examination of the finances of these countries even before the Eurozone was created and was in the planning stages would have told you something was not right, indeed the Wikipedia article I linked you to above pointed out how until 1994 - when the Maastricht Treaty which laid the groundwork for the Euro was ratified in late 1993 - the Greek figures suddenly started showing a completely different picture to what had previously been the case. Anybody with the most basic sense of economics knows the difference between the economies of Greece, Spain, Italy and Portugal compared with Great Britain, France and Germany: the divide has existed for centuries.

The EU/ECB did not care as although they did not commit the deception themselves, they are guilty of either self-deception, gross incompetance or collusion.
I'm not questioning the political intentions of the Eurozone. You made a false statement (made apparent from the lack of any source to back it up) "ECB/EU knew Greece and the others were fixing the figures, but let them in anyway because the Euro was political in its purpose and not economic.". In the future don't try and pass your opinions off as fact unless you can actually provide proof to your claims.

If you had read the links I sent they show clearly that even before the Eurozone was officially launched you could see that something was afoot, yet the European Commission and to-be ECB decided to ignore the warning signs (as well as the historical disparity). So as I said, EU institutions either knew they were being fixed and decided to go along with it, were too incompetent to spot the obvious warning signs OR deluded themselves which is exactly what you are doing now.

Which one is it? I say they knew about it and decided to go along with it for political purposes.

I have a sneaking suspicion that my uncle jimmy is gay, that doesn't make it correct for me to parade around telling people with 100% certainty that he is as I don't have any proof.
