They usually charge you whatever price they are in store that day as far as I'm aware, unless that's just click and collect.

Although, actually with Tesco I did use a baby discount code for baby products and it worked on some shoes, so you never know.

Indeed, at the time of dispatch they will charge you whatever it cost in the store (unless Direct is different) they picked it up from and will not bill your card with anything until it's dispatched that morning.

Yeah they can do that, but if they've filled the order and delivered, they can't turn around and say you owe us this much money. Surely?

They can, when you purchase something they make it very clear that what you have is a guide price and is subject to change depending on the price in your store (or whichever store it's picked from).

1000% not true once the transaction has been agreed upon they can't just randomly decide that an item will be charged at £300 more and the online store is a store within itself so the prices on there reflect Tesco Online and are not at all subject to change based on a brick and mortar store once something's been bought and paid for

    I've not ordered anything from Tesco lately so I can't copy and paste what it states on their terms but from Asda;

    * Please note:all prices are Guide Prices only and offers are subject to change. You will be charged the price of the items on the day they are picked.
And furthermore in their about our pricing

Please note all prices are Guide Prices only and offers are subject to change. You will be charged the price of the items on the day they are picked.

Our prices and offers may change on a daily basis so the prices of items may vary from when you place your order to when we deliver.

For items sold by weight such as fruit, vegetables, fish, meat and poultry; we endeavour to get as close as possible to the weight you ordered. As such, you will be charged for the actual weight picked, which may be greater than or less than the amount at the time you placed your order.

If the item you ordered isn't available and we pick a substitute for you, we won't charge you any extra for the substituted item. If the original item you chose was however part of a multibuy offer, and we substitute for an item that is not currenlty part of a multibuy offer, you won't receive the multibuy discount.
Tesco operates the exact same policy, if you have ordered something from Tesco recently then you'll have the same thing.

That's why you pay on the site using the site prices rather than opting to pay on delivery; once paid, it's done

    It isn't optional.

The only way to pay for it is via card etc and the amount if charged as soon as they dispatch it. You have no option to change either of these.

They still can't charge more than you've finalised a payment for it; otherwise it's like buying something in store and then being told you have to give them extra once you're out of the shop. Depending on stock, the transaction's done once you've confirmed payment

If you're unhappy you can probably return it for a full refund, but as per their terms they can quite clearly change the price between the point of order and dispatch.

You agree to this when you order as you agree to their terms and conditions, which states this exactly.

Can't explain it any better than I have and above (one of my other posts with quotes) is a direct quote regarding the pricing policy.

When you make the order, you simply provide them payment info, you've not confirmed the price nor the payment until they dispatch it, at which point you'll get an invoice which states the price you paid.
