You speak as though the radicals are always devout people, they're not. Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states which enforce the strictest Islamic codes and preach the strongest Islamic terms are all known to be hypocrites in their personal lives, with gay sex parties/yacht parties with booze and a lot of women and debauchery going on. Most of them are complete hypocrites when it comes to they themselves.
