Lol - just try picking them up, reload the hotel then put them back down.
I had this problem before and it sorted mine...
Otherwise, put them in a room, go to modify, then accidently let your hand slip to the delete button.

happens everyday, unfortunately my pets are stuck on trophies on the same square, so I don't wanna pick them up
