Just to go through the tablet predictions from the first 120 posts (if there were any after that feel free to quote yourself and brag about how right you were!)
Apple definately released a tablet computer and it hasn't been universally accepted as awesome so I'll have half a point atm, we'll see if that comes true.
- Myspace will be closed down or bought by an obscure company and will be never be heard from again
- Apple will release a tablet computer which will fail on its arse
- We will see a glimpse of one of the next generations of games console
- Windows mobile will take a massive market share hit and will be released on very few new phones by december
- Opera desktop browser will increase it's market share
- Half life 2 episode 3 won't come out
Half points, other manufacturers making them in response happened before apple even announced itAgain, popularness is yet to be seen.
It was definately released but the price tag isn't mental so yeah.
Spot on except the name!
- Saying 'touchscreen is going to be a standard' is incredibly unrealistic, but Apple's touchscreen device, either the iSlate or the iGuide to be announced possibly January 22nd, as a 10" touchscreen tablet computer capable of running applications in a similar fashion to the iPhone.
Its subjective but imo the prices aren't as high as some expected them to be so we'll call that one a fail![]()
Microsoft will go back on it's word and at the end of the year release Halo 4P)
A new type of internet site like Facebook will take off
Facebook won't start charging users for money
Habboxforum will have a server upgrade
Msn will get sold from Windows to some other company (H)
hehe

Mark Twain
Sorry but there's no way you can make predictions of the forthcoming year seeing as we're a month into it, there's already been CES, Apple have done a keynote and many companies have announced their intentions over the year![]()
It's probably time to close this thread, then.
I'm not crazy, ask my toaster.
But companies like Apple don't announce what it is going to do throughout the year. Although we can pretty much guess that there will be a new iPhone in June/July time.![]()
Adding to that, alot of companies add unique things to their products throughout the year and build up to release. So the HP tablet for example, may feature something different, or a worker at Microsoft may create something that blows the minds of the bosses at MS and something new comes out on the Windows 7 tablet OS. CES is just a general outlook, really![]()

A quarter of the way through now and I have some spare time on my hands, I'll go through some predictions in the first 40 posts and see where we are with them
CNET's buzz out loud podcast do this every year (as I'm sure a lot of other publications do too) so I thought this might be fun on hxf!
Basically post what you think will (or won't) happen during the next year in the tech world. It can be things on the internet, new devices and software that might or might not come out or a paradigm shift that you think will happen that no-one else saw coming (like mp3 players being implanted into birds for universal speakers). In a year we'll dig the thread up and see how many people were right or wrong! Post as many or as few things as you want and don't take the piss saying stuff like "flying cars won't come out".
I'll start off:
- Myspace will be closed down or bought by an obscure company and will be never be heard from again
- Apple will release a tablet computer which will fail on its arse
- We will see a glimpse of one of the next generations of games console Rumours of the nintendo 3DS surfaced yesterday, Natal & Playstation move too
- Windows mobile will take a massive market share hit and will be released on very few new phones by december - Considering it's being phased out I'll take a win on that one already

- Half life 2 episode 3 won't come out
- Almost every PC will come with a touch screen
- Android and webOS will start to become key mobile OSs, and by the end of year will be starting to catch up with the iPhone. Android certainly catching up and is likely to overtake iphone, safe one!
- Vodafone might actually give its customers free access to Facebook!
- An iPhone will be launched in June, with a better camera, and hopefully multi-tasking. A new Nano will be announced in September, in several horrible colours, probably with a 2MP or 3.2MP camera. along with an iPod touch (likely with camera, and 128Gb storage space), and a bigger iPod Classic (250Gb), and a shuffle, which will be higher capacity and smaller (up to 16Gb). Looking likely, they've dropped the price of the 3GS to clear inventory
- Quad-core processors will be standard in most £4-500 PCs.
- Netbooks will get thinner, faster, better spec'd, cheaper, and will stop using that god awful Windows 7 starter edition

- AMD will have a 6-core processor nearly ready to sell
- Blu-ray recorders will fall under £200, and players under £50
- More and more places will provide free Wi-Fi

- Freeview HD.
- One 3D channel on Sky, probably on its own little extortionately priced package

- 2Tb will be the norm for HDD storage.
Some safe ones there
- Google Voice takes over Skype in the US, and possibly the UK depending on whether it's released over here
- Apple's tablet will be surprisingly popular, forcing other manufacturers to begin making them (Dell tablet anyone?) hasn't been released yet but i think that's looking good
- Netbooks sales will drop as laptop prices lower and smartphones become more capable Going opposite way from what I can see!
- Android over takes iPhone marketshare Likely!

- Apple WON'T start charging there prices in the UK

- mybb will become bigger than VBulletin
- A massive error will be found in windows 7
- Laptops will become illegal due to it leaving 3rd degree burns

- Apple will allow people to drag and drop files onto ipods without having to use itunes HA fat chance (A)
- Bill Gates will die suddenly
- Sony Ericsson will get sued for having such unreliable phones
- Google Chrome OS will flop big time, consumers don't want private data stored on servers, current 3G network providers don't have the capacity and there will be no applications for it.
- YouTube will actually begin dishing out 'proper' 1080p video services Idk how you define proper but they definately have 1080p now!

- Office 2010 is released, absolutely pwning iWork, OO.O, or any other office system
- SSDs will drop in price significantly
- Spotify will become ever more filled with adverts I'm getting 2 at a time pretty regularly so yeah
- Apple will lose against Nokia in their law suits Is that still going on?
- 4G phone networks still wont start rolling out in the UK, let alone a proper 3G network infrastructure, O2 go begging other carriers for network help when the iPhone finally kills them iPhone part of that looking unlikely as its on so many networks now

http://tekcube.net/internet/firefox-...010early-2011/
fairly unlikelyIf you want to disagree with what I've said feel free, you can also go back and evaluate your own predictions and post the results- Apple will fail miserably by continuing to be ignorant to consumer demands and prices
