We played poorly, but I feel that if England went in 2-2 at half time anything could have happened (and there could have been no German counter attacks in the first place).

The disallowed goal and the poor decision that just happened in the Mexico game just outlined the need for goal line technology yet again. Seb Blatter needs to sort it out.

However, the loss could be the ideal platform for the introduction of a new group of players. Should Fabio resign/get sacked Pearce would be the ideal candidate with his knowledge of the current/previous U21 players. If we had gone far in this tournament I dread to imagine the current players playing in the next world cup too, like the Italians did.

The FA need to actually find a chief executive, find a chairman and sort Wembley out. Then ditch Heskey, Terry, Lampard etc and build for the future.

lol completely agreed. there is no excuse, we need video replay. accepting that there's going to be mistakes in football is not good enough especially at such a high stage.

yeah we played poorly, but i'm still proud to be english, roll on 2012 in east europe...

Btw I think it is time that Capello is shown the door, he is reminding me more of Ramos every time I see him. His substitutions this world cup have been dreadful, along with his incompetence at selecting a number 1 goalkeeper, defender and formation. We had an easy qualification which looks to have flattered us massively.

It's such a shame that brilliant players such as Gerrard/Lampard/any of the wide men have not been used to their potential. His stubbornness cost us.

Meh, I'm sick to death of saying 4-3-3 now. It's a joke. Every top country play it, Brazil, Argentina, Germany, Italy did for a bit, France did for a bit, Portugal do, Even Spain do at times. But somehow we're stuck with 4-4-2 which doesn't work.

It's a disgrace that he's been here 2 years and still needs a translator and he's the England manager. If he can't talk to the media in English, I doubt he can talk to the team properly and he shouldn't be the England manager.

Upson had a terrific game with Terry against Slovenia and I had no problem with these two pairing up against Germany today, but yeah King should've played and we might've had a better outcome

I wouldn't say he had a terrific game- he looked too nervous. Remember it was against Slovenia too..

Any sunday league team knows that having 1 defender on 1 attacker is not something you do, and then they do it twice against the Germans. They should of kept it tight at the back, they still had 25 minutes. They got too greedy.

As for the formation, England haven't took a step forward in them terms, they got rid of McClaren and then got this guy incharge who has used the same old system. Why?

He took the wrong players who were unfit or hadn't played games in ages. He said he was going to play in form players? Hello Johnson? Why the **** did Gerrard play, played rubbish all season IMO. As well as barry who was injured, SWP who didn't even get in the first team, Ledley King who can't even train with Tottenham coz hes nakered. What is he actually doing?

Well Capello has said that he isn't going to resign, the FA are stupid. They removed his get out clause before the world cup because they was afraid he was going to go to Inter Milan and now he has said he isnt resigning because its up to the FA. He obviously just want's the FA to terminate his contract so he can probably get a nice juicy 4 million pay off and wave goodbye.

A man that can't talk English cannot inspire English players.

As for Upson against Slovenia. I don't understand that. People say he had a good game, I think he had an average, borderline poor game. His passing was good, and his block was good. That was it. He was very shaky on the ball for a lot of the game.

King is arguably England's best second/third choice CB. He doesn't train- he hasn't for a couple of years. He was unlucky to get the groin injury against the USA game (which has nothing to do with his troublesome knee). He proved towards the end of last season that he can cope with the demands. He was fit today but Capello opted to stick with Upson, regretably.

edit: nicked this from coys but it echos truth.

If you have two attacking full backs you have a tight midfield with 2 x DM/holding players.

If you have a flat and static back 4 you have attacking wide players.

We had the bits of both that go wrong.

How is it possible to get the shape/team/personnal so wrong.

Surely on this basis you have these formations:

    Formation A:

    ____________Keeper

    ARB______ CB ______CB _____ ALB

    _________DM ______DM

    ___RM_______CM______LM

    ______________CF

    Formation B:

    ____________Keeper

    DRB______ CB ______CB _____ DLB

    RM ______DM ______CM_____LM

    _________CF_______CF

ON the basis we had fullbacks for formation A, the team should have been based on the 30 players

    ____________James

    Johnson______ Terry ______King _____ Cole

    _________Barry ______Hudd

    ___Lennon_____Gerrard______Adam Johnson

    ___________Rooney

You then deal with the Gerrard/FatFrank issue, the who plays with Rooney issue, the centre backs are exposed issue, you have pace on both flanks, you have a balanced and constructive team.
