I think he was burnt out after the United season. That long with not enough support. He's done it for England in the past, even in the qualifiers, and he'll do it again. This WC wasn't his time though. Hopefully with a new manager, and maybe a new formation both those problems can be sorted.

I still think if England got further, Rooney would have picked it up.

I don't want to use the disallowed goal as an excuse, but I truely do not understand why FIFA/the relevant world football people don't employ goal line technology, or allow the referee to refer to a video replay. Gary Linaker (pretty sure that's spelt wrong haha) read out a statement after the game saying it was too expensive. ******** is it, rugby and cricket both have it, why not football, which is meant to the most played sport around the world.
Like I said, not using it as an excuse, but it amazes me how the FIFA allow this 'the referee is always right no matter what' attitude at national level, especially in the final 16 where a goal can be the difference between winning and losing

Lol get rid of Capello too, at times he looked like he needed a needle injection to calm him down and was on the verge of going bonkers and out of his mind.

The reason they said it was too expensive was because the technology they were talking about involved a magnectic force around the goal and a microchip inside the ball, which is obviously absurd. They were talking about it for a good three hours on BBC Five Live last night and they had one of the pioneer's of the technology on there (or at least someone who knew what he was talking about) who said that the microchip idea was urealistic and that other idea was to have six cameras inside the goal which would record the ball at every angle and this wouldn't cost much at all. FIFA really have no excuse.

It doesn't even need to be all this fancy technology, there are enough cameras already across the stadium, all the referee needs to do is ask to see the replay that we see. It breaks all logical bounds that FIFA don't allow this

Meh, there are a lot more sides to the story then people think. If you say: Why can't they just look at the replays then where's the limits. Also, It would make the game flow less. On top of that, I think the bad mistakes actually add to the game. If everything was right, it would be boring. I think only for goals/penalties and there has to be a limit.
