I'm the Snake champion but my Frogger skills have gone walkabout. I don't play the games in the arcade often because a lot of them really bring my piss to a boil. Especially Adventure Golf.

Woohoo, Manga Entertainment are releasing Redline on DVD and Blu-ray around May next year! Still, I want to see it at the cinema dammit!

MVM are re-releasing a bunch of stuff as well, including Ergo Proxy, FLCL, Trigun, Berserk, Seirei no Moribito, Fate/Stay Night, Samurai 7 and many others.

Its just been announced that Satoshi Kon has passed away. I just can't believe it... he was by far my favourite anime director and clearly one of the best minds working in the film industry today. His movies were always entertaining, very original and beautifully told. Rest in peace Satoshi Kon. I just can't believe this has happened... it's so sudden... I hope his new movie is completed and then released in his honour. I am sure it is what he would have wanted.

Yeah, I went and bought Paprika on Amazon soon after I heard the news. It's the last of his films I had yet to own. Think I'll give his whole collection a watch in the coming weeks. Still can't believe he's gone. This is the saddest death since Steve Irwin for me.

There was a farewell message posted on Satoshi Kon's website where he talks about the day (May 18th) he was told that his cancer was terminal and had spread to his bones. He was also told by doctors that at most, he only had half a year left.

He also spoke about meeting with MADHOUSE founder Masao Maruyama about the final anime film he was directing, and said:

"When I conveyed my concerns for Yume-Miru Kikai to Mr. Maruyama, he said, "It's fine. Don't worry, we'll do whatever it takes."

    I cried.

    I cried aloud."

    Kon ended his message with:

"With feelings of gratitude for all that is good in this world, I put down my pen.

    Well, I'll be leaving now.

    Satoshi Kon"

Farewell a true visionary and a godfather of anime. Still can't believe it...
