It is only because you're bigger :s
You have more people, so more chance of better players [like in football], and more people means you're going to produce more good players, so smaller countries have to use less good ones because they don't have as many to choose from, whereas bigger places have more talented people, so can use the best of them :]

Probably because those countries are poorer so don't have as good facilities as England to train people etc

Theyve won the world cup the most times, there easily the best football team in the world and they are poor comparing them to most.
