I hate nickelback, I can't stand that guys voice, and they're songs are just terrible, I actually listened to some of the lyrics and they're really bad.

I HATE that guy. I saw an interview with him, and he said 'I didn't want to make a record everyone else was making. I wanted to be original'. I wanted to slap him and say "CONGRADULATIONS! YOU FAILED!"

Red's right, the two songs do sound the same, but strangely I liked that mix. Not a reason to dislike a band I wouldn't say, it still sounds good. The reason Daniel Powter doesn't get away with it is because none of his songs sounded good in the first place.
