The problem with the forum admins is that they have loads of (sometimes odd) rules which they don't write down, so new forum admins take ages to learn them. This is why A4AOwen may have said it was ok, but nvrspk4 said it wasn't.

If the Forum Admins want to enforce rules like this they need to explain why it's not allowed and then create a list of rules for all admins to follow.

I'm guessing nvrspk4 is correct that a rule exists, because he has more experience of being an admin, but if this is the case he needs to explain why the rule exists.

Stop making me look on my own Another admin said no according to him! Anyway the problem with us Admins is that we're expected to be omniscient so nobody ever updates the rules!!!! One reason I know this rule existed was in the past I was asked and forwarded it to a higher admin who told me we didn't do that. You ask WHYWHYWHY?! Well one reason is that the main reason people ask for merges is because an account that was banned got unbanned and they were on a different account until it got unbanned. Why do we not merge it? Because being banned was your punishment, if you just get remerged after the ban, the ban is ineffective. 99/100 there will be reasons against it. What about the other 1 you say? Well basically, we can't think absolutely everything out. So we have no way of saying you can get it back under these circumstances. It would basically be a judgement call, and then we'd get yelled at left and right for favoritism, bias, and all manner of things when one person was allowed and the other wasn't. And you all know that's true, you're even starting on it now :p Therefore, we have to set a rule and stick to it, and the only one that is really fair is no merging. The only other thing would be to let admins make a judgement call where it may depend on the admin and there's all the favoritism and bias issues. That's my translation of the rule, I never had it 100% explained to me but that's some of the issues :p

I tried to get them to merge this account with another one of my accounts which had alot of posts/rep because I used it when this account was banned for 9 months but they didn't so I gave the account away in the end and someone got it banned :p
