Personly id say the best was the orignal, the big buttons fit with the minamlist style and the top banner in 2 and 3 didnt work at all imo.
Its simple, easy to look at and genraly a nice layout. As people have said, its not particaly orignal, but it is a tryed and tested method, which has shown to work well, so as they saying goes, if it aint broke dont fix it. Overall a nice layout, although you should test a live version, since when you try adding content insted of the latin filler, fitting the exsact text structure may be quite difcult and make the layout be a little odd look due to standing out from the quite ridgid format "/

About buttons: They have to be that size to go with the banner/image. I was going to change it then read what Carl wrote and changed my mind.

Liking the simplicity and its easy on the eyes
Im not too keen on the text
on the buttons with the 1px white stroke maby you could use a drop shadow
