It isn't true. It takes neally the same amount of time to digest as other food. I was watching the news the other month and it was talking about chewing gum stuck on pavements and roads and they were talking about ways to dispose of chewing gum. They didn't say swallowing it was a great choice but the 8 years to digest is completely false.
