I find this hard to understand how after several explanations you seem to fail to understand why we ask for proof for rumours.

    Right,
"Hallways 1 and 2 are missing" (proof: Hallways 1 and 2 no longer on navigator)
THAT IS NEWS. Because it is factual, hallway 1 and 2 are missing it is a fact because it isnt on the navigator.

"Hallways 1 and 2 may go" (Proof: Screenie with Habbo Staff saying "Enjoy the hallways while you can"
THAT IS A RUMOUR. It is a rumour because it is not news released by Habbo Hotel LTD. They havent told us exactly why to enjoy the hallways, they havent said they will be leaving the navigator all they have said is to enjoy them and the rest has been assumed by a large group of people.

The fact is that there is some sort of justification to back up a claim, it doesnt make it news as if it was news on Habbox and other fansites you would see.

"Hallways 1 and 2 are to leave the navigator"

But because its a rumour that has been justified by some sort of proof to back up the claim it would most likely be reported as:

"At 12pm today, Habbo Staff sent this screenie..... Could the hallways be leaving us forever?"

So in your definition, any statement made by an individual is technically a rumour?

So in the playground if someone called you "an idiot" then in that sense bystanders would not be wrong in saying "Rumour has it that blah blah is an idiot"

Plus I am sure that rumours also need to be something of a common belief so a one person statement such as "habbo x" saying "omgdz habbo iz closin" wouldnt count as a rumour as it is just one individuals opinion or statement.

If Habbox kept by just having News and Rumours, it will be filled with good news and lots of spam. Habbox has more like a News and Certain Rumours type forum.
Yes, we do bend it a little to fit our needs, but it keeps a lot of the spam out. The reason for that rule is though VERY VERY few cases could not have proof and be true, then we would get many posts like this and roflADAM's complaining how their thread was technically in the rules but it was really not credible at all. This isn't to attack them, its an example of what would happen, and technically we couldn't close the thread. As I said, should they provide reasoning its up to a moderator. Hence the leeway to make room for special cases, but still giving us the power to close bogus threads.

A rumor has not happened yet, it is rumored to happen in the future.

News has happened and has already occurred and is being reported on after the event.

That's the simple way of putting it.
